In this video Tom Palmer, of the Atlas Economic Research Foundation, speaks to Reason.tv’s Matt Welch about libertarianism in an international context and the liberal potential of the recent revolutions throughout the Arab world (the “Arab Spring”). At this juncture, Palmer’s perspectives may seem over-optimistic in light of the problems that have developed in the Middle East since 2011. However, it is refreshing to be reminded of the promise the original protests and movements had, and to remember that Middle Eastern society is not doomed to be governed by authoritarian dictatorships or Islamic states.
